Tobacco jar Manila is a beautiful baluster-shaped Delft blue tobacco jar dating back to 1900 with beautiful painted décor and text Manila.
Like many tobacco pots is also a replica of the original dating 1671-1840. It bears the mark of “the three bells” and has a nice craquelure.
Complete with brass lid. The text Manila comes from the tobacco from the Philippines (1897), and named after “Manila”, whose name derives from “nilad”, a Filipino bush. On these jars often stood the name of the tobacco plantation or the area of where the tea came from.
A very nice tobacco jar with high decorative value. It measures 18 x 21 cm.
